In order to bring transparency and streamline admission to Post Graduate medical and dental courses Government has decided to introduce a single entrance examination to be known as “The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)” from the academic year i.e. 2013-2014, says govt.
NEET-PG Test for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma Course courses offered by all the Medical Colleges/Institutions coming under the ambit of the Medical Council of India will be organised by the National board of examination (NBE).
HOWEVER,
NEET PG DENTAL for admission to MDS courses >>>>>
Reportedly All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will conduct NEET-PG exam for dental for admission in MDS courses offered by all the dental colleges/institution coming under the ambit of the Dental Council of India.
What to expect ?
1.NEET-PG Dental is a qualifying-cum-ranking examination for admission to MDS Courses in dental institutions recognized for running these courses under the ambit of Post Graduate Medical/dental Education Regulations.
2.NEET-PG will comprise of 200 multiple choice, single correct response questions in English language only from basic , paramedical and clinical sciences.
3.The examination shall be a multiple choice questions test.
4.Kindly note that the weightage of MCQ’s will be announced , AIIMS reserves its rights to alter /vary /amend the same.
5.Negative Marking: As per most exams conducted by AIIMS ,there will be 0.25 negative.However, until an official word from AIIMS is not out we cannot be certain of it.In NEET for MD/MS entrance conducted by NBE (National Board) there shall be no negative marking.
6. It shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50 PERCENTILE in NEET.

40 percentile for OBC, SC Candidates.
7. Reservation of seats in colleges/institutions for respective category shall be as applicable laws prevailing in states/UT.
8. In non-govt dental colleges/institutions, 50% of the total seats shall be filled by state govt or the authority appointed by them and the remaining 50% of the seats shall be filled by concerned dental college on the basis of merit list prepared as per the marks obtained in NEET.

The Dental PG entrance exams will be conducted by AIIMS on 13th January , 2013
